Scoring Mini Rifle

Competitions are made up of Stages.  A stage is a group of paper targets requiring 2 shots in each target to count, (I know this is arguable, but this is just a basic guide)
Normally, Most times, requiring 2 shots in each target to count.

MINI  RIFLE  TARGET

The target size is almost the size of an A4 sheet of paper. It has 3 scoring zones

'Normally' each target requires 2 shots, making a target worth 10 points. If a stage has 6 targets then the stage has a value of 60 obtainable points.

It would be all to easy to shoot straight A's, so in practical shooting you are also against the clock.. The score is divided by the time taken. So if you take your time and get all A's the time you take will  bring your score down. If you go to fast and get a rubbish gun score, the low target points will bring your score down, and if you miss, it has a penalty of minus 10 points + the potential A (5 points) that's not there that's a minus of 15 points

Lets say that a stage consisted of 6 targets (total points worth 60) and the
first competitor is Mr. Speedy who takes 5 seconds and gets all D's
Second up is Mr. Sensible, who takes 7.5 seconds and gets all C's
Third up is Mr. Slow who takes 10 seconds and gets all A's

Mr Slow 60 10.0 6.00 56.25 93.75
Mr Sensible 48 7.5 6.40 60.00 100.00
Mr Speedy 24 5.0 4.80 45.00 75.00

Mr Sensible wins the stage with the highest hit factor of 6.40 (Score divided by time) and therefore is awarded the maximum possible points of the stage (60 stage points)

Speedy & Slow are 'Gutted' that their cunning plan didn't pay off and have to settle for their Stage Points to be of a Percentage of the Jubilant Mr. Sensible.

So, Speedy's  hit factor is 75% of the winners hit factor (4.8 divided 6.4 ),
Speedy earns 45.00 stage points (75% of 60).

At the end of a competition, or in our case an evenings shooting, each competitor has their awarded Stage Points added together and then the winners total Stage Points are taken as being 100% and every body else gets their Percentage worked off that top score.

If you have read this far you're doing well Onwards & upwards

So, To Recap, we punch the numbers into a computer and once the cogs have stopped squeaking and we've spoken to it nicely it might spit out a box with numbers in like the one below!!

04/01/2000

STG. 1 STG. 2 STG. 3
  POINTS POINTS POINTS TOTAL   %
ALAN IZZARD 52.97 64.96 170.00 287.94   100.00%
GRAHAM BARÉ 90.00 80.00 114.51 284.51   98.81%
STEVE SMITH 62.94 66.33 118.28 247.56   85.98%
MARK BRADLEY 57.34 48.74 77.28 183.36   63.68%

The scores above show the names in the first column. The next three columns show the stage points achieved for stages 1, 2 and 3 with the winner of that stage receiving the maximum points available for that stage (highlighted in blue).

The total column shows simply the total of all the stage points earned over the three stages. The person with the highest total (Alan with 287.94) is the winner and his score is taken as 100% . Every other score is shown as a percentage of  287.94

(gasp for air!) So Mr. Chapple, No, the results pages are not the last years lottery numbers or a secret code, and I hope this 'brief' explanation will now make some sense when you next visit our Results page. However Thankyou for bringing a valid point to our attention.
